The appearance and manufacturing process (including material selection) of the fishhook are the important basis for us to judge the quality of the fishhook.
First, let's look at the appearance of the fishhook. At present, the common colors of fish hooks in the market are black, white and yellow. White is the basic color, black is another layer of black nickel plating on the white hook, yellow is copper plating, and gold hook is added with gold when copper plating (its function is oxidation resistance). Whether the surface of the fishhook is gold-plated, silver-plated or blackened, the coating shall be uniform, the appearance shall be bright, and the hook bar shall be smooth and round without bumps.
Secondly, high-quality fishhooks should be sharp, flexible and high-strength, which is also a concentrated reflection of the high-quality materials and exquisite workmanship used in the manufacture of fishhooks. In addition to the high strength and hardness of steel wire raw materials, the fishhook made of high strength should also have high rigidity, elasticity, fatigue resistance and corrosion resistance. The hook tip of the fish hook is not sharp enough, and the piercing ability is poor, while the high-quality fish hook must be able to easily pierce the fish mouth.
The flexibility of the fishhook is reflected in the carbon content of the steel used. If the carbon content is too high, the fishhook will be brittle and will break immediately when it is twisted or stretched; If the carbon content is too low, the tensile strength of the fish hook will be reduced, and it is easy to be straightened by the fish. Therefore, a good quality fishing hook should reflect its tensile strength, good penetration and certain toughness according to the size of the hook and the thickness of the fishing rod.
